Repentance
Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have
put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. (Isaiah
42:1)
Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways,
saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so
iniquity shall not be your ruin. Cast away from you all your transgressions,
whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why
will ye die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of him that
dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye. (Ezekiel
18:30-32)
From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of
heaven is at hand. (Matthew 4:17)
But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for
I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. (Matthew 9:13)
And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye,
and believe the gospel. (Mark 1:15)
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (Luke
13:5)
I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that
repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no
repentance. (Luke 15:7)
And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among
all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. (Luke 24:47)
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter
and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter
said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus
Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy
Ghost. (Acts 2:37-38)
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when
the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; (Acts 3:19)
Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of
thine heart may be forgiven thee. (Acts 8:22)
When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying,
Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life. (Acts 11:18)
Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering;
not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? (Romans 2:4)
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed
away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the
sorrow of the world worketh death. (2 Corinthians 7:10)
Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. (Colossians 3:2)
For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and
how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; (1
Thessalonians 1:9)
And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to
teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God
peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And
that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken
captive by him at his will. (2 Timothy 2:24-26)
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses,
let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and
let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the
author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him
endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the
throne of God. (Hebrews 12:1-2)
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but
is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all
should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)
Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first
works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick
out of his place, except thou repent. (Revelation 2:5)
Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent.
If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou
shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. (Revelation 3:3)
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
