Pride
And I will break the
pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as
brass: (Leviticus 26:19)
Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for
the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed. (1 Samuel 2:3)
The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the
devices that they have imagined. (Psalms 10:2)
The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God
is not in all his thoughts. (Psalms 10:4)
Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an
high look and a proud heart will not I suffer. (Psalms 101:5)
LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself
in great matters, or in things too high for me. (Psalms 131:1)
Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom. (Proverbs
13:10)
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. (Proverbs
16:18)
An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.
(Proverbs 21:4)
And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity;
and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the
haughtiness of the terrible. (Isaiah 13:11)
Thus saith the LORD; They also that uphold Egypt shall fall; and the pride of
her power shall come down: from the tower of Syene shall they fall in it by the

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not
to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly,

Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge.
Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth. (1 Corinthians 8:1)
If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words
of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to
godliness;
He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words,
whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of
men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is
godliness: from such withdraw thyself. (1 Timothy 6:3-5)
But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but
giveth grace unto the humble. (James 4:6)
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes,
and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (1 John 2:16)
