Unanswered
Prayer
Because I have called,
and ye have refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man hath regarded; But
ye have set at nought all my counsel, And would none of my reproof: I also will
laugh in the day of your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; When your
fear cometh as a storm, And your calamity cometh on as a whirlwind; When
distress and anguish come upon you. Then will they call upon me, but I will not
answer; They will seek me diligently, but they shall not find me:
(Proverbs 1:24-28)
Whoso stoppeth his
ears at the cry of the poor, He also shall cry, but shall not be heard.
- Proverbs 21:13
The Pharisee stood
and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as the rest of
men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in
the week; I give tithes of all that I get. But the publican, standing afar off,
would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote his breast, saying,
God, be thou merciful to me a sinner. I say unto you, This man went down to his
house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall
be humbled; but he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
- Luke 11:14
We know that God
heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and do his will, him
he heareth. - John
9:31
Ye ask, and receive
not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may spend it in your pleasures.
- James 4:3
