Ministers
For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his
mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts. (Malachi 2:7)
He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He
saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him,
Feed my sheep. He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest
thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou
me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I
love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest:
but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another
shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not. (John 21:16-18)
Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the
Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath
purchased with his own blood. (Acts 20:28)
Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but
our sufficiency is of God; Who also hath made us able ministers of the new
testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the
spirit giveth life. (2 Corinthians 3:5-6)
For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your
servants for Jesus' sake. (2 Corinthians 4:5)
Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we
pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. (2 Corinthians 5:20)
But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience,
in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, In stripes, in imprisonments, in
tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings; By pureness, by knowledge, by
longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned, By the word of
truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and
on the left, By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as
deceivers, and yet true; As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold,
we live; as chastened, and not killed; As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as
poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things. (2
Corinthians 6:4-10)
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some,
pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the
ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: (Ephesians 4:11-12) |
