Marriage
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male
and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be
fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have
dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every
living thing that moveth upon the earth. (Genesis 1:27-28)
And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make
him an help meet for him. (Genesis 2:18)
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his
wife: and they shall be one flesh. (Genesis 2:24)
The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and
the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of
hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that
shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause
to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the LORD. (Jeremiah
33:11)
Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined
together, let not man put asunder. (Matthew 19:6)
For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long
as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her
husband. So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man,
she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from
that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.
(Romans 7:2-3)
The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband
be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. (1
Corinthians 7:39)
I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house,
give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully. (1 Timothy 5:14) |
