Divisions In The
Church
But when the Pharisees
heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the
prince of the devils. And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every
kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house
divided against itself shall not stand: And if Satan cast out Satan, he is
divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? (Matthew 12:24-26)
And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and
they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. (John
10:16)
That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they
also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And
the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as
we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and
that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou
hast loved me. (John 17:21-23)
Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences
contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. (Romans 16:17)
Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all
speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be
perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. For it hath
been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of
Chloe, that there are contentions among you. Now this I say, that every one of
you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. Is
Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of
Paul? (1 Corinthians 1:10-13)
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or
Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one
Spirit. (1 Corinthians 12:13)
For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together,
having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked: That there should
be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for
another. (1 Corinthians 12:24-25)
